Last Thursday 24 September, the “VI Seminar on Claims in Spain and Latin America”, took place. The online event, organised by our office, served as a meeting point for (re)insurers, brokers, adjusters and the network of collaborators in Latin America.
Under the coordination of Jesús Velez, managing partner of KENNEDYS ABOGADOS Spain, our different collaborators from the best law firms in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and England tackled various current issues in the insurance sector, all with special attention to COVID-19.
José Alberto Solís Marín, Managing Partner of BUFETE SOLÍS MARÍN, from Mexico, started with an interesting presentation on the problems of Large Scale Risks in Mexico.
Alex Almaguer, Lead Partner for Latin American affairs at REYNOLDS, PORTER AND CHAMBERLAIN (RPC), London, UK, spoke about the extension of coverage for loss of earnings due to delays in repairs as a result of the restrictions imposed by governments to limit contagion by COVID-19.
Javier Goizueta, our partner at KENNEDYS ABOGADOS Spain continued with his presentation on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) insurance, its current state in Spain and the impact of COVID-19.
The impact of COVID- 19 was also present in the following presentations, such as the presentation of Felipe Hoetz, Partner of ACUÑA, HOETZ & CIFUENTES ABOGADOS, Chile who spoke about the insurance coverage of D&O in the time of COVID 19 in Chile.
Likewise, Dennys Zimmermann, Partner of RPZ ADVOGADOS in Brazil, continued with regard to the impact of COVID-19 on surety and D&O insurance in Brazil.
Finally, Carlos Estebenet, Partner of BULLÓ ABOGADOS, Argentina, reported on the current problems and legal framework of insurance in Argentina, as a result of COVID- 19.
The fact that it was held 100% online, allowed for a large international attendance, which generated interesting discussions, which also contributed to the success of the seminar.
